About Women in Film

It is a simple, yet bold, statement that encourages ambition, action, and independence. It's where Women In Film.Dallas will focus our energies in 2008 to helping you Create Yourself! By offering more educational and training seminars, more networking events, career advancement opportunities for entry, mid, and high-level professionals through our PSA and Mentorship programs, and with the expansion of our internship program, we're paving the way for professional and personal growth for each and every member. We are an organization that promotes, educates, and enhances professional production. We actively work towards responding to our members' needs, and connecting with members on an individual basis to positively impact their careers. Our membership is larger than ever, which means meeting more decision makers, potential employers, mentors; connecting with potential interns, employees, and freelancers that can help develop our members' businesses! We have a stellar line up of programs for 2008, beginning with businessKillers- an in depth look at business practices and the six major mistakes individuals and businesses commonly make. Also stay tuned for details on other upcoming programs on 3D Animation, Distribution, our Scholarship Showcase, and screenings and panel discussions with directors and producers. Mark your calendars for the Topaz Awards on Sunday, March 2nd! This year we will honor: Amy Talkington, our Rising Star; Garry Brown, Humanitarian, Don Stokes, Gratitude; and the Dallas Film Commission will present Hector Garcia with the Advocacy Award. Our Spirit Award will be presented to the woman nominated and voted by our members as making notable contributions to the North Texas production industry. The 2007 Board of Directors truly set the bar for our newly elected Board and Committee Chairs for 2008. I sincerely thank our past leaders for volunteering their time, talents and positive energy. This year will be one of advanced growth and development for WIF.D and with this new group of leading ladies, I anticipate we will reach even newer heights. Now is the time to become involved in WIF.Dallas! We invite you to become a part of WIF.D and encourage your active participation. Join us, and Create Yourself with WIF.Dallas! — Meredith Stephens, President, January 2008
