The mission of Uptown Players is to present professional theatre that meets a rising demand in the community for audiences to see their life experiences represented on stage. We offer diverse productions with contemporary and alternative lifestyle themes that explore complex and varied situations such as relationships, family, prejudice, and values. We present plays and musicals that challenge our audiences artistically, build cultural bridges, and strive to create greater positive public awareness and acceptance through the performing arts. There is no other theater group with this unique mission in the Dallas area. Uptown Players was founded in 2001 to provide quality theatre to the Uptown and Oak Lawn communities. Our first season began with four productions running 9 performances each over a three week period. Now entering its eighth season, Uptown Players audience base has grown to include subscribers and patrons from across the entire Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex,,as well as the surrounding states of Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas. The response from the community has been remarkable and Uptowns productions regularly receive "Critic's Choice", "Don't miss it" reviews, and multiple awards from the Dallas Theatre League. Average audience attendance has grown to almost 2000 per production.
